Fire Statistics:

Those quiet candles cause annually, an estimated 23,600 fires in residences. Women are more likely to be injured or killed in residential candle fires.

December, January, and February are the highest months on average for homes to burn. Most fires start between 5 and 8p.m.

Dryer Vent Fires:

“Failure to clean” is the leading factor contributing to clothes dryer fires in residential buildings.This accounts for 70% of dryer fire contributing factors.

Residential Heating Fires:

Only 11% of structural fires from wood-burning are from flue fires. Nearly 80% were from bad installations or damaged systems. This means: Improper installation.

Fires from wood burning:

In 1983, there were 200,000 heating fires, but by 2007 - 54,000. This follows the rise of the chimney sweep profession. If 54K sounds insignificant – 58,000 US troops died in Vietnam and few families are out of reach from someone affected.
